Film and Media Composer
Bio
Hi, I’m Dan! I’m a multi-instrumentalist, film and media composer based in Leeds, UK. I started my musical career learning the cello at a young age in string ensembles. I’ve also played bass guitar in a band, double bass in an orchestra and taught myself a variety of other instruments. My style of composition is a product of my career, I enjoy mixing elements of orchestration and synth with a focus on texture and unique sound pallets. I owe a love of film to my parents who raised me on the most iconic films of their generation (mostly disaster films), and were always watching something I’d not seen before.
Favourite films
I’m a big fan of stylistically unique films, The Life Aquatic (Wes Anderson) is one of my all time favourites. Poor Things (Yargos Lanthimos) is amazing, and All of Us Strangers (Andrew Haigh) makes me cry every time.
Favourite scores
Legends of the Fall by James Horner holds a special place in my heart, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ score for Empire of Light. Anything by Jóhann Jóhannsson or Rob Simonsen really inspires me.
